Throwback - Karang Aji


December 2008

Went back to one of the best memories i had with my best friend.
We were on year-end holiday and really want a place to get away from the city.

I suggested to go to this place i had been wanting to go to. So we did a road trip for 3 hours to this surfers' favorite beach.



Indian Ocean!


Endless blue and green scenery.

We finally found our destination on a corner.
This building has 10 different rooms and other facilities like recreational space, kitchen, even swimming pool.

              

The best spot was this main room on the edge, it has bathroom and cozy bed too. We just didn't have the guts to sleep in such height.


So we picked the modest one, which was also comfortable and has a great view.



We spend three days and two nights here, doing almost nothing.  
Drinking wine, walk to the beach, smoking joints, chat with neighbours, and eating A LOT. 
Which describes a perfect getaway.




Of course we also took a climb to that viewing point. 



Took a pizza bet to get there, but the view was priceless.

7 years has passed and still looking for a chance to go back here. Soon, maybe.

Explore - In Love with Plants

I got very excited when i see plants. It makes me happy just to stare at them. 

That's why every once in a while i spent some time to go to places that has collection of plants. With intention to learn and just to see new species, i always end up broke. And i will never learn.

This place is about one hour from where i live, on weekdays. If it's weekend i will need 5 hours to get there. So taking a day off from work was totally worth it.


Green houses are always be my destination, i know that's where they keep the good ones. I also know that would be the place where i will lose my money. 
This place has five greenhouses. 


Like women in general, i like to shop. So when i started to like to garden, i made a promise to myself, to never buy plants unless if it can be harvested, or if it is succulent. Because succulents relatively easy to take care of, the risk to waste money for crying a dead plants is lower. 

But would you please see what they have inside. 


I just didn't know what to do, what to think...

How can you not loving these... i think just to see its textures is already comforting.

Loving these leaves particularly. White young leaves turned into green, with dark magenta color on the back. SO PRETTY!! they are just leaves i know but it's really pretty!!





After i got home i took pics of some of the plants i got, the ones with flowers.  









And these are the folks until a couple of months ago. 


I keep adding a few, some of them are already grown now. Still love them as much, if not more.

Cook - Salade niçoise a la a la



Adalah namanya Salade niçoise.. atau Niçoise Salad.. atau Selada tuna..

Eh kenapa sih kalo di bahasa indonesia salad itu dibilang selada.. atau yang bener salada kali ya.
Tapi kan beda tipis banget ama selada.. atau mungkin kata selada yang ngikutin selada?
Kayaknya iya... (nanya sendiri jawab sendiri)

Balik ke topik, jadi ceritanya kita dalam misi penasaran untuk mengulik lebih jauh tentang menu salad. Penasaran aja kenapa orang-orang sana bisa makan salad setiap hari.. kayak makan gado-gado gitu tiap hari.. bisa gak? aye sih enggak (kalau makan nasi padang setiap hari baru bisa).
Kan bosen kalo sayurnya sama melulu.. karedok lah sekali-kali.. lotek kek..

Nah ternyata mereka juga begitu. Banyak loh jenis salad yang bisa diulik. Dari yang manis sampai yang asin, dari yang asam sampai yang creamy.. dari yang mentah sampai yang matang.

Salah satu pilihan untuk makan salad yang matang ya salad dari perancis ini.. Sayurnya kebanyakan direbus, begitu juga proteinnya juga turut diproses baik telur maupun ikannya.



Yang wajib ada adalah tomat, kentang, buah zaitun, buncis, telur rebus, tuna dan kadang ikan asin. Tapi seperti biasa dan tidak pernah berubah kita selalu pakai asas nga to the wur.


Resep ngawurnya kira-kira begini,

Bahannya:

1 buah telur ayam.. jangan yang kotak ya.
1 potong tuna yang dipanggang setengah matang kalau mau keren.
Karena kita orangnya sederhana, jadi pakai tuna kaleng. setengah aja. kalau bisa yang in oil.
1 genggam tomat cherry (diganti satu buah tomat sayur)
1 genggam kentang kecil ( diganti siung bawang putih --> maksa beneeeer)
1 bonggol lettuce (diganti juga pakai brokoli.. hahahah)
1 genggam buncis baby
1/2 buah bawang bombay
5-6 buah zaitun
Sekedar karena suka dan ada, kita pun tambahin paprika dan bunga bawang.

Dressingnya 
(kenapa sih dibilang dressing?... ah sudahlah jangan dibahas)

1 sendok makan extra virgin olive oil
1 sendok teh jeruk nipis
1/4 sendok teh garam
1/4 sendok teh lada hitam
1/2 sendok teh mustard
1 siung bawang putih
sedikit ikan asin.. kalau bisa yang bilis (anchovy), jangan jambal roti hahaha

Pakai herba juga oke.. misalnya basil, kucay, atau parsley... di sini kita pakai pesto, kira-kira 1 sendok makan.




Caranya

1. Bikin dressingnya dulu.. blender aja deh semuanya jadi satu. Bisa juga diblender kasar atau diulek, kalau rajin. Hasilnya pasti lebih bagus. 

1. Potong-potong semua sayur sesuai selera, jangan dipotong terlalu besar agar tidak susah dimasukin ke mulutnya. Hahaha.. Eh ini serius.. harusnya potongan salad itu yang 'tinggal lep' gitu. Yang matangnya lebih lama seperti kentang juga harus dipotong lebih kecil. 

2. Sisihkan tomat, zaitun dan paprika karena mereka tidak perlu dimasak. Kalau pake lettuce juga dia masuk ke gank ini. 

3. Yang pertama adalah rebus kentang (sudahlah bawang putihnya dianggap kentang aja), karena dia yang paling lama matang. Lalu masukan bawang bombay. 

4. Kalau keduanya sudah empuk, matikan api, angkat, sisihkan. Di air yang masih panas itu dimasukkan buncis dan brokoli. Diamkan sampai warnanya berubah cerah, angkat, rendam dalam air es biar warnanya tetap bagus. 

5. Terus ditata.. abis itu dituang dressingnya.. difoto dulu.. di upload pake caption #eathealthy.. terus baru dikasih ke orang lain dan balik ke dapur lagi, masak mie instan aja.
