Harvest - Mulberry
Do you know what's the difference between Mulberry and Blackberry? I honestly had no idea about it until i googled it just now.
- Mulberries belong to morus genus, moraceae family. Blackberries belong to rubus genus and rosaceae family.
- Blackberry is a bush with thorns and mulberry is a tree without any thorns.
- Mulberry is a deciduous tree, native to Asia, Europe and Africa. On the other hand, Blackberry is a perennial plant seen in South American and temperate Northern hemisphere.
- Mulberrry fruits are larger than blackberries and have almost an oval shape. On the contrary, blackberries are almost round.
- Blackberry fruits are very dark purple to black color. Whereas, a mulberry fruit is red to dark purple.
I guess it doesn't have any thorn? I think it's more like a tree than a bush? I still can't decide do i grow a mulberry or blackberry tree.
But then, i didn't really grow it. It's been there next to the gate of my house.
It gives fruits often, especially on rainy seasons. I only pick the dark fruits then come back two days later to harvest it again.
The best thing to look at is its gradation from red to purple and very dark almost black color.
One tree of harvesting is enough for a breakfast with yoghurt and muesli, or mix it with smoothie.
It is also good to eat it fresh. It will make your teeth pretty. Pretty dark and purple.
It's one of the few things i like about rainy season. I'm thinking about another one but i seem can't find it right now. Maybe not watering my plants but not really. Or good sleep in the morning and waking up late to whatever i should do for the day.
